OOTP9 won't work at all...

OK, I've been trying to get this game to work on my PC. I'm running Windows XP Professional SP3. I've downloaded the latest OOTP9 ver. 9.2.2. I was able to put in the license, but when I try to start the application I get the "OOTP9.exe has encountered a problem, the information you were working on might be lost" and it asks if I want to send the info to Microsoft. I've tried all the fixes listed here on the boards, I've owned this game since the 24th and haven't been able to play it at all. I'm getting very frustrated. Please someone help.

You say you're running 9.2.2 - can you download and install 9.2.11 as this is the latest version. The link is in the main 9.2.11 released thread in the main forum.

Actually, I do have that version installed now. I had to disable facegen and now I get as far as the main screen. However, when I get to that screen, the only thing I can do without the game crashing is options. I can't create any new leagues or quick play, because it crashes now.

The only way I could actually get the main screen to load up was to DL and install the OOTP pre XP rar file. But as I said now I can't get any leagues going. When I try to start a new league it loads to 100% then I get the same error message and the program closes.

Any ideas anyone?

I've already disabled facegen by renaming it facegenx, as that was another crash I encountered earlier. Would really like to be able to finally try this bad boy out, as it appears to be the best baseball sim out there, but I'm starting to get quite frustrated. Anybody have any ideas to throw my way?

I've also tried defragging my hard drive and closed all other programs.

I just checked and am running 9.2.11

Do you get the game startup screen appearing or is it crashing straight after clicking the icon?

kbin007 12-29-2008 01:59 PM

I get the startup screen now, but can't go any further. It crashes when I try anything else. A new league will load to 100% then crash

can you run from your start menu with Trace Mode on - it'll be under Tools.

Then load up a game and when it crashes you should find a file called ootp.log in the My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 9 directory.

Rename it to ootp.txt and attach it to a reply in this thread.

I'll let Andreas or Markus know and they can have a look at that.

Thanks

Thank you Tony for helping with this. Any idea on a time frame for Andreas or Markus?

Not sure if this is relevant, but during my Christmas vacation, I discovered my 9.2.11 would not load if I wasn't connected to the Internet, sort of like how they said the Steam version worked (though I never used that version and downloaded the update from this site). (If you want, I can also put this in another post, but I thought they might be related.)

thanks for the tip Steve. I actually have tried to load it up while connected, but still had no luck. I am actually in "negotiations" with Dell to purchase a new PC. Have submitted all the info, it's a quad core processor, 2.4 Ghz, 6 GB of ram, an ATI Radeon 3650 HD video card, 640 GB hard drive. Should arrive about the middle of the month (January), so I "should" have no problems running OOTP9 on this machine. Still would like to get it running on my old machine in the meantime though, as I am really anxious to try this game out.

Hopefully very soon, but I haven't seen either of them on during this gap between Christmas and New Year and I've not had a reply to any emails I've sent to them.

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to look into the file I attatched to one of my previous posts yet.
