Union League Baseball Openings

The ULB is currently about to begin the Union Cup Playoffs in 2001. We'll be heading into 2002 with a few openings, and are hoping to find some quality General Managers to fill these slots.

We're an older (read: Veteran) group of players who have been playing OOTP since, well, forever. (Did I mention we're old?)

Our Website is Union League Baseball » Official Website of the ULB

You can access our reports, forums, etc all from the main page.

So here are the open teams we will have currently: (2002 season)

San Antonio DireWolves

If you are interested in joining up for the 2002 season, please shoot me an email with the following information:

1. Your Name?
2. Any Previous OOTP experience? (Any Online leagues?)
3: Preferred team?
4: Plans for preferred team?
5: Real Life Favorite Team?
6: Do you use Twitter or Facebook?
7: Ever Been a member of simcentral.net? (Our forums)

I still have Brooklyn and Boston open for anyone who is interested. We will be entering the offseason this weekend, so now is the perfect time to join up!

Worth noting that Brooklyn is our only remaining vacancy.

I've got the San Antonio DireWolves open for a potential owner. They are 5-7 to open the 2002 season, but the roster does include some quality players

Andruw Jones, Paul Konerko, Mike Peeples (3 x All Star, 1 x Nike Fielding Award with many more to come) Eric Chavez, and of course Derek 'Bam Bam' Baker. (the reigning 2001 Federal League MVP)

The pitching staff doesn't have as many big names, but there's Omar Daal, they added an Ace in Dan Chergey in the offseason, and Yan LaChapelle did win 17 games last season. In the bullpen, you have Danny Graves, Pedro Borbon Jr and closer Chris Russ (He's good.)

We sim M/W/F at 9PM, EST. Links in my signature to view reports, etc.

Also worth noting that the owner of San Antonio has been trying to move out of Texas for the last few years, and we could potentially arrive at a deal to move them to a logical area provided you stick around the league. (min 2 seasons)

Something new I'm giving a try.

The ULB is currently recruiting Beat Writers for the league. You don't have to be an owner in the league to join. You can set yourself up as a fictional version of a baseball writer, or just be yourself. I'll also be using this as a stepping stone in case a team opens up in the future. You can cover the league as a whole, a region/division or a team. You'll get set up with access to the league file, and access to the league's main site. You can be as active as you like. Hopefully, team owners will embrace this as give you insider information on trades, free agency offers, etc etc. Owners, if you have someone you'd like to recruit, please let me know.

Buffalo has become available for a new owner. Sadly, the old owner had to give them up due to personal issues. Decent team, needs some work. Just heading into the offseason, so perfect time to join up.

I've signed up a few writers for our league, but I'm looking for more before we kick off 2003.

The 2004 ULB offseason is here, and I have two openings.

The Boston Colonials are now available, and they are likely going to need some work. They've spent too much money over the last few years, but have a lot coming off the books. They have some good players to build around, and we'll soon find out if Curt Schilling will pick up his player option for 2004.

The other opening is the New Mexico Suns. They are an expansion franchise and will be drafting this week.

If you would like in, let me know and I'll get you set up!

The Las Vegas Vipers are currently open. They have 2003 MVP Aubrey Huff and just signed Ichiro to a 6 year deal. Good starter team for a newbie.
