This is about the only thing that bugs me about this game

He has all the great stats, even the scout praises him yet look at his game stats. Just don't seem to matchup to all the hype. Or am I wrong?

Players don't always perform the way you expect them to. Thus it is in real life and thus it is in the game.

This game would be awfully easy if that weren't true.

Scouting's on, therefore there is plenty of room for error. If you want players to perform exactly how you expect them to (which would be terribly boring, in my opinion), play with scouting off.

Exactly this. In year one (2012) of an online league I'm in, Clayton Kershaw went 7-16 with a 4.19 ERA, 217 K's and 70 BB's in 208 IP, the year after winning the Cy!! If the same season was simmed 10 more times, he probably would have done better in most, if not all of them. This "X" factor is what makes this game frustrating/enjoyable!

OOTP requires an attitude adjustment

While it can be a bit frustrating for baseball fans who migrate over from stratomatic or other sim-based games, my opinion is that it will be well worth the time invested to discover the hidden gem that OOTP really is.

Most of the old games it was a matter of trading players or moving them in order to achieve the style of team you are looking for- you always knew how they were going to play, at least overall, it was all there on the card!

While this style of play definitely has its appeal, I would urge you and anyone else to "kick the tires" a bit and then try out the mode that really makes OOTP shine, Fictional leagues. Yeah, I know... I was a longtime skeptic myself, but once you do some research on setting up a league and how to tailor it to your satisfaction, the depth of pure baseball goodness is truly astounding.

Granted, it does require some prep work, frustration and repetition that may turn some off, but the ROI* is excellent. While the game requires constant oversight by Markus and us, his little minions, where else are you going to get such dedication and longterm commitment?

Stick with it, just give yourself a chance to see the other side of the baseball sim world for a time, where NOTHING is guaranteed. It's addicting- just ask Curt!!

He's not even close to the same pitcher. Darvish in real life is a fly ball strike out pitcher who allows few hits. He allowed 47% GB in 2012. Your version is a high GB pitcher who gives up a lot of hits. Then consider infield defense and you have an X factor that could make him even worse.

Some players with great ratings just don't get it done. Even without scouting players dont always perform up to their ratings, and some will always do better

I had a guy who never got above 2* yet won 3 MVP awards with one being a triple crown

Couldnt agree more.

How boring it would be if every players performance was easily predictable.

Trade him and see him being an ace. OOTP, it's in the game!

Exactly. And that is one of the things that makes this game so infinitely replayable. You will always encounter players who will surprise you, in a negative way or a positive way.
