Just purchased OOTP14, crashes in game and when I try to open the game...
 

Windows 8 on a brand new Laptop, all updated.

What now?

Did you try reinstalling?

What happens when it crashes? Does it say anything or does the game just disappear?

Yeah, more info would help. OOTP never crashes for me, so something weird must be going on.

The screen goes completely black.

No mods installed.

Just trying to get familiar with the game as OOTP6 was my last one that I had...

When I click on players, ect. I have it in full window mode.

How can you click on players when it crashes when you open the game? Not trying to be a smart ass, just don't understand.:(

Because it worked at first. I then increased the font size and it crashed. I then reset the font size, and it still crashed.

It works fine in 'windowed' mode.

Now it will not work at al in full screen mode.

... Windows says OOTP14 has stopped working when I try to open up any screen on the start up window...

I think it's a bug that has to do with OOTP on computers w/ windows 8 from looking at the comments on this post: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...available.html


Maybe try going back to 14.3.12? (link: I think it's a bug from looking at the comments on this post: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...available.html). That seems to be the last really stable version, though I'm not sure. You could also try 14.4.?, though that has some annoying bugs.

I'd try a full reinstall of the most recent update (14.5) and if that doesn't work try a full reinstall of either 14.3 or 14.4 (if you're ok with the minor league 60 day DL bug). Play in WINDOWED mode (according to those comments on the first link).

Not sure if anyone else mentioneed this. Take it out of full screen and put it in windowed.
