Four straight playoff shutouts!
In my league, the Detroit Legends made the playoffs (16 out of 32 make it in this league) with an 83-83 record. Their top pitcher's name is Tim Hansen.
The Legends won their first playoff series against the 112-54 Oklahoma City Cloverleafs, who had the third best offense in the American League in the regular season, in seven games behind three shutout performances by Hansen in games 1, 4, and 7. http://i60.tinypic.com/25q9g6h.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/29ze8b5.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/34q6814.png In the third game of the Legends' second playoff series, against the 102-64 San Francisco Timberwolves who had the second best offense in the American League in the regular season, Hansen turned in a fourth consecutive shutout performance. http://i58.tinypic.com/ad0lyc.png If we include Hansen's postseason from the previous year, this makes 36.2 consecutive postseason scoreless innings, which if it happened in real life, would have broken the MLB record for the most consecutive scoreless innings in the postseason set by Whitey Ford. For those of you who are curious, here are the stat lines for the four shutouts: http://i62.tinypic.com/m91spg.png Have you seen anything similar to or better than this? |

Update: Hansen's postseason shutout streak ended at 46.1 innings. Hansen recorded another shutout in Game 1 of the ALCS against the Jacksonville Fireflies (85-81, 13th best offense in the AL). However, in Game 2, he got sent in as a relief pitcher to start the bottom of the 12th inning to close out a 4-3 game, and after recording two outs, he gave up an RBI single to Jacksonville designated hitter Carlos Marín.
Hansen's Legends would ultimately win the World Series against the Charlotte Ports (112-54, best pitching staff in the league's 24-year history). Here is his full postseason game log: http://i60.tinypic.com/wa11df.png |
