Playoff Settings Editing

Alright, so my suggestion is that more control is allowed in setting up how the playoffs are set like how many teams, division winners and wild card, etc. This has definitely been a problem for my custom fictional league as I have an 18 team league where 16 make the playoffs and no way to edit it.

It pretty much makes the regular season pointless with no drama on who will make it. Even if you guys had preset playoff lineups for now if it's easier that would be fine. Ideally, for an 18 team league you would only want 4 from each conference making it in.

Playoff customization is definitely something we'd like to do at some point, but it may not happen quickly. The preset idea isn't bad, maybe have a set of three or four possibilities per league so you can at least get a little closer to what you want.

I appreciate all the responses from the development team. With attention like that I have no doubt that this series will make huge leaps in the future.

Yeah, I figured from a coding perspective it may be hard mid-release but presets should be a bit easier since, theoretically, there's no chance of the game breaking because someone has some convoluted playoff scenarios.

So for my 18-team, 2 conference, 2 division preset league I could choose between playoff scenarios like the current:
  • 16 teams in, 8 from each conference, 2 division winners get top seeds
  • 8 teams in, 4 from each conference, 2 division winners get top seeds
  • 8 teams in, 4 from each conference, teams seeded regardless of division

Just an example but I hope something that can be implemented down the road prior to FHM3.

This would be a good list is playoff format presets. Byes can be used to get odd team numbers into playoffs.

Presets:

Standard fixed bracket (2, 4, 8, 16 teams)

Standard fixed bracket with byes

Standard reseeding bracket (teams reseeded each round)

Standard reseeding bracket with byes

Round robin tournament
