Database errors / Unable to play the game

Hiya, bought the game some week ago but havent been able to test it out as I get these messages when trying to start a game and saving the game..

DATABASE::save_data - could not save sqlite database file - OOTP tries to roll back the transaction

OTTP successfully restored the database files. Your database is NOT saved yet. Please check the disk space and the league folder, then try again.

Error: unable to open the sqlite database.

-Got enough space on my SSD drive (some 110GB free)
-added exceptions in AV
-tried running the game from steam folders as admin but the same result

OOTP16 ran flawless for me so I have zero clue what have changed.. please halp

Are you using the latest version of OOTP17?

Please post the OOTP data path here. Click on "Game settings" on the main screen, open the troubleshooting tab and click on "Open folder which contains customizable data". Then click in the address bar of the Windows explorer and copy the whole path string and post it here.

17.6.46 is the build but I got these messages trying to play the game in earlier patch builds aswell.

Here's the path

C:\Users\Mårten\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 17

Okay, so the new build still did not fix the problem :(

Our way to open the SQLite database does not work with the "å" in the path because it's not an ASCII character :o

Please use a different data path. Open "Game settings" -> "Experts" tab and select another data path for OOTP like for example c:\ootp17
Then restart OOTP and it will work.

You're welcome! I'm glad it works now.

I tried the same thing but I still get the error. Pretty frustrating to play an entire year, do all the offseason, get ready for the next year and have the database get corrupted.I hope you can solve this or this will be last year of playing this game. Can't trust it it if you can't keep a database from corrupting.

Hi Tony:

I'm really sorry that your database got corrupted but typically when the db gets corrupted it's typically not due to an issue with the game, but rather with something on your computer not functioning correctly (hard drive or memory issues) or possibly that there's another program somehow conflicting with the game.

I can help you troubleshoot your issue if you fill out a support ticket (see my signature). We can take a shot at restoring your game from its autosave (you can find instructions on doing that here) and hopefully figure out why it was getting corrupted in the first place.

Any specific details you can provide in the ticket on exactly what's happening, when it started happening and your computer and its specs will be helpful!
