Real Patch and Update procedure

I appreciate the work OOTP Dev puts into the game -- BUT... these updates are ridiculous.

Being an IT professional, I understand the need for updates and patches but there are too many and they happen too often for the mechanism by which they are "delivered".

My suggestion for the OOTP 18 is to have an in-game Update function, that only PATCHES the existing install... not have to re-download the entire game for a "little maintenance patch"... if you can't get this to work, then let's skip the "little maintenance patch" and go back to the old way software used to update -- only minor version number updates and only on a pre-set schedule... IE: 17.1, 17.2 etc only released on the 1st of each month.. or something similar to that.

That's my two-cents... because every time you release a patch, I curse you and I don't want to do that...

yes, the full game "patch" is a pain, but i think Markus (or someone) once explained they tried the regular patch thingy and it wasn't successful. i can't recall why anymore ..... but i'd like real patches too, however, as long as the issues get fixed, i can live with the current system, even if less than ideal.

At least they're fixing the problems.

Personally, I'd prefer if they rolled out REAL updates... not little itty bitty bugfixes that requires a full game download.

Come on... OOTP Dev can do better than this. Roll out a real patch system, or move to a real update schedule -- everyone will be much happier with the updates. I appreciate their work, I do not appreciate updating the full game so many times... and since I am in online leagues, I have no choice... I have to update.

I can see the problem of having to download a 1 GB file everytime there's a maintenance patch, but I completely disagree with the idea that they have to stick to a schedule. Why? What does that solve? If they fix something on day 5, why should they wait until day 31 to release it?
