Quick question about development system

I want to use the developmental engine to add some variance. I'm not interested in having guys get rerated every year based on real life stats because that would seem to nuke guys like Strawberry.

However, I WOULD like to have a system that would change players positions based on real life. Example, Palmeiro comes in as a right fielder. Would be great if there was a way to change him to first base without me needing to manually do it.

Any thjoughts?

Upon creating the game, you can deselect the option to recalculate players ratings, and let the game development engine take over, if you so desire.

Again, upon creation, there is an option to base fielding ratings on the player's whole career, which *should* see Palmiero navigate towards 1B.

See this section of the manual for details: http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/...-settings-page.

even if he degrades, no guarantee he moves to 1b etc.. but if you use the settings that are relevant that ry1220 mentions, you can make it a likely probability as opposed to 100% luck.

if you want them to do things similar to RL, then you want their ratings to not follow the development engine but to allow RL historical stats to determine how their ability changes over time.

i say "similar" for a reason... don't expect an exact recreation... maybe some settings can make that nearly possible or not, but likely a choice has to be made by the ai or human that eventually will differ no matter how similar you make it.
