Question about roster limits and ghost players in a historical league
Does anyone know what the roster rules were for MiLB teams prior to the MiLB reorganization in 1963?
I am trying to play a historical challenge game with the Mets, starting in 1962. Reserve era rules apply (i.e. no free-agency, draft) until 1964 draft. I am trying to play without ghost players but with roster limits. Each team has enough players to fill rosters without ghost players until Opening day. Then, several teams seem to gain an extra minor league. This results in the error message to the effect of "Illegal number of players on the roster". I have tried playing with roster limits of varying type and without roster limits. I have found no information online about roster rules for minor league teams before the MiLB reorganization in 1963. Other than filling out the roster, what effect do ghost players have on the game. Do ghost players affect the AI in terms of trades? I don't care about minor league win-loss records. |
