Fictional League Player Pool
Hi,
I'm trying to create a Fictional League with both historical MLB players AND fictional players. From what I can tell, the only options are either/or ....you can't have both. I hope I'm wrong and I'm just missing something. Thanks in advance for any help. |
you can create a fictional league. Then by using the .csv file take players from each year and then create a text file. save it. then import that file into your game. that gets your historical players.
somewhere on the page with the draft is a box to check (or not) to have game generate fictional free agents. Leave that unchecked. Also use the International Complex, all those players are fictional. If you do not have enough players in your draft, on the free agent page, you can select create fictional players from the drop down menu (you can create one or a thousand if you so desire.) that's just one way to do what you want. i tend to play that way a lot. i build up about 20 years ahead on my .csv to text file, saving each year's players in a separate file ... so it only takes a few minutes to import them. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...xt+file&page=2 posts 8 and 11 are most relevant on how to create the text file. hope this helps a bit and doesn't confuse. |
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure I understand where I can find or create a .csv file. Or where I can import the file into the game once created.
I realize I'm just ignorant to all this, but just being open here. :) |
I've found the .csv files. Now which one to edit? And how to use? Does the game reference these .csv files as they get updated? Or do I need to import as needed?

copy the player ID names (i think it's B column) - but not at my game to check. then paste those player IDs into notepad (or notepad ++ is better and it's free). Then add the year you want them in (i use debut year). a comma - a space - the year after the player ID. (see examples on the previous link.) - like this: ruthba01, 1924 i then save it in a file i made in my documents folder - in the same folder as my game - i call it (stats -players to import). in that i create a folder for each year i am importing players from. so you'd save this notepad ++ file into that folder and direct the import to that folder, and it will only get players from the file you specify. it's a bit confusing at the start. try to simply import one player (the manual explains it). And then try a few text files in a test league or something. Once you do it a few times, it's like riding a bike - sort of awkward at first but it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Really. if i figured it out, anyone can. if you have any problems, send me a PM and i'll try to help. it may take a day or so for me to get back to you though. Gots lots of "issues" that arise from time to time. But i'm certain you can figure it out. |
