How does game handle Recalc?
I am playing a career league with Historical Recalc (5 year) turned on. How does the game handle a player that has no career stats? Does it just ignore the recalc function for that player and let them develop normally (the OOPT development engine is turned on, using the basic Challenge mode settings).
I am trying to decide if it is worth holding onto players who are long past their real life retirement date or if they will still produce since their ratings remain high. Also I occasionally find the top prospect with great ratings but with no real life stats. |
Yes, they develop and decline based on the development engine once there is nothing to base a recalc on. I have seen players like Whitey Kurowski and Sandy Koufax have great careers past their retirement date.

In the past I was never a recalc player but since it is part of the Challenge Mode I have been using it and really like it. I was originally against recalc because I thought it would just make every player perform exactly like they did in real life but I have found that there are a lot of variances with it. Some players who were stars absolutely tank and others that you never heard of in real life put up some great careers!

Again I have to ask, if the bold were the case, why would the developers recommend disabling player development for those playing single season replays? |

I don't know how the program actually works, but this seems to be the case. I get development reports during the year, showing players going up and down. That couldn't really be caused by recalc, because there is no new data. So I am guessing that the development engine has done something, which will be "recalc'd" at the next offseason cycle. Cowboy, I am wondering if recalc is actually on in Challenge Mode. I see the setting here, and it looks as if the checkbox is blank (not checked). Attachment 560158 Maybe one of the developers will see this and clarify, but it was my understanding that recalc was unavailable in Challenge Mode. |

The main reason I switched to recalc is it seems with career development there are no star batters after age 30. Yet there are batters who weren't stars until after age 30. |
