Sketchup Textures (and other resources)
Since we have more people creating stadiums, some of us thought it would be a good idea to create a central thread where we can put our different textures we use in our stadiums.
Below are links to different zip files with sketchup textures: Sketchup Masters (These are files I got off google image searches that have 10-15 seamless textures you can divide out and use) Seamless Textures (these create a universal look when its painted on a surfacE) Building Facades General Textures (grass, concrete, etc.) Also, I put together a folder with all of the ads for national brands that I've used in my stadiums. You can find them here: Stadium ads You should be able to download these and then use them in your own stadiums |
Great idea. I have started the process of stadium design using Sketchup, but it has been a slow old process!!! Thinking I may need to stick to the uniforms.

A couple of resources I use quite a bit:
https://www.sketchuptextureclub.com - free textures! They have a "club" membership that gets you higher-res textures and some textures with more bells and whistles, but for OOTP purposes the free tier is perfectly fine. https://www.textures.com - you get 15 free "credits" a day you can use. Textures cost more credits the larger they are, but the most basic ones only cost 1 credit apiece. They have a much larger selection than SketchUp Texture Club. |
One thing that can save you a bunch of time is finding a good sketchup model that you can incorporate into your stadium. However, a lot of sketchup modelers don't paint both sides because, well, they're not importing it into OOTP. I've started a collection where I'm saving models I use frequently and have painted all the sides on, so hopefully they should import quickly and save you time on creating the lights, field, etc. You can find the link to the collection here:

3d Crowds - Lines of Code
Silvam does a great overview of how to insert the 3d crowds in part four of his series, which you can find here
:https://youtu.be/t5pnZyirfYE?t=874 I wanted to post the 4 lines of code for each of the levels of popularity so you don't have to go looking in a .mtl file for them. Level 1: Ni 1.000000 d 1.000000 illum 1 map_Kd ../attendance/seating_popularity1.jpg Level 2: Ni 1.000000 d 1.000000 illum 1 map_Kd ../attendance/seating_popularity2.jpg Level 3: Ni 1.000000 d 1.000000 illum 1 map_Kd ../attendance/seating_popularity3.jpg Level 4: Ni 1.000000 d 1.000000 illum 1 map_Kd ../attendance/seating_popularity4.jpg A couple quick notes: 1. Make sure your new stadium file is located in the ballparks/models folder before you change the .mtl file, 2. Every time you export the .obj file, you'll need to rewrite the code in the .mtl file. |

Here's a day & night treeline that I use a lot. You might need to nudge the texture down a bit to cut the grassy area off. The only one you have to import into your model is the day texture, and then just drop the night texture into the _Textures folder that gets created when you export the OBJ file and OOTP will pick it up automatically. The same trick goes for any other .PNG textures with the texture_day.png and texture_night.png naming convention (thanks to silvam14 for that tip)!

Just started trying to pull together stadium profiles from my parks and putting them in one place in case someone wanted to use it to use the follow-me tool. I made them groups, so you should just have to select one, copy and paste in your sketchup document, explode it and then use the follow me tool.
Again, just started. The file is located here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/7533yo...files.skp/file'' |

Cadmapper
I was going through the tutorials on YouTube and happened to stumble upon this video tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKUGAZXU4dY It allows you to take an overview of a street map and it will convert it into a 3D image that you can input into Sketchup. t is free to signup and any snapshot you take that is less than 1 square km is free (which is all you would want anyway. I tried it out and it works quite well. There are actually three methods on the tutorial but I went with #2 (starts around 4:40 of the clip) |

I wanted to highlight a couple of posts from eriqjaffe's USBL thread are super helpful if you're looking to do backgrounds (so they're in this thread for future reference.)
First, eriqjaffe explained his process here:http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/showpost.php?p=4359897&postcount=16 Second, silvam explained how to do day/night backgrounds here:http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/showpost.php?p=4361526&postcount=21 |

Fixing broken backgrounds
Boof helpfully highlighted that some of my stadiums had the background image split in different sections - below is an example from the thread:
https://i.imgur.com/1VFZ56a.jpg I had adion take a look and posted on the forum, and was given an elegantly simple solution. You can find the details in this post in the bug thread, but the short version is models need to be a certain size in the game for them to read correctly. The easy way to fix this is to add a triangle further back in the model: https://i.imgur.com/EQ2v4Z8.png And then your backgrounds should load correctly: https://i.imgur.com/LPMoWss.png |
With the revelation that the _day and _night extensions works on all textures (not just backgrounds) I have started building up a library of surfaces (ie tiles, parking lot, roads, grass, water, etc.), materials (bricks, concrete, roofs, woods) and building facades (ie other buildings that you can use in the background, stadium facades, etc.) I've found that it adds a bit more realism when the other textures darken at night - and there are a couple hundred textures here for you to use.
(Also, if you want to match the darkness of the textures, I pulled the slider down to -57 on the brightness scale in Gimp. I think it helps to have a universal color level.) You can find the link to the zip file here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Noy...ew?usp=sharing |

What are you guys using as the scaffolding on the backdrop of your park signs?

Thanks
I should probably know this but where do I find Silvam's package - what thread? I see his thread with all the stadiums.. Also had one other question - maybe you can direct me to another thread as well but how do you upload the different models for the day vs night background skylines? Or do they need to be changed prior to noon vs evening games? Thanks |
