Weird Financials
I earlier discussed starting a 1977 Toronto season that did not provide me with farm teams. This was clarified and it was not an issue. However, that same season has had very strange financial situation. The first season saw a budget of in excess of $50 M and the minimum salary was set at $380K. The second season saw me start with a budget of $56M which I used to sign many top tier free agent (e.g. Jack Clark wanted $220K per season for seven seasons as a 22 year old, this was well below the minimum of $380K minimum set the previous year). I signed many free agents at this low low salary. At the beginning of the preseason, my owner reduced my budget to $40M. I noted that when I added players to the major league roster from the minors, the minimum was $31K. After completing that second season, the owner reduced my budget to $14K. I can do nothing financially as my expenses exceed budget by almost $3M. Question 1 - What caused this financial aberration (it was the first year that is obviously off) and 2 - Is there anything that can be done to get these finances back in order? I also have not been able to change my ticket pricing even though the option is set correctly and my attendance and other team issues are way off.
