AI managers making bad moves

I set up a 48 team league and set up good lineups and staffs for each team but now on opening day, I see the managers are sending 4 star players down to the minors and replacing them with 2 star guys.

Also they are starting inferior players in spots.and benching better players!

How can i stop all this craziness from happening?

I don't want to control all teams because then I wont get any trades and it ruins the fun.

any ideas?
thanks

Maybe their scout says the two star guys are four star and vice versa. Maybe their scout, not yours, is right. Or maybe not.

Actually I turned off scouting.

A bunch of teams took 4 star players on minor league contracts and sent them to the minors. How can I keep them on the major team? Do I have to sign them to a major league contract?
thanks

Teams will do this to prospects to manipulate service time, just like real MLB teams do.

If you do sign them to an MLB contract, then that should ensure they do get treated like normal players and called up if they merit it, without service time shenanigans (though this might also depend on open 40-man roster space and other stuff too, so not a guarantee, but it should help).

I have found that often AI teams would put players on 40 man rosters long before they need to. Learned of this when I traded for a few players over the course of a couple seasons. Had wondered why ii had to keep him on 40 roster when it be too soon for that

Usually happens with International Complex guys who move out of the complex early. They become Rule 5 eligible and sometimes since they are so young their potential is still rated super high so the AI protects them even though almost certainly won't be drafted in Rule 5. since they can't even be hid on the bench that young and inexperienced.

The other thing is if anyone who was a milber was cut and then signed they are Rule 5 eligible immediately. If they get a potential pop the AI might protect them early.

Noticed that playing in a full universe. Every league cutting draft picks who then pop a year or 2 later playing in Indy ball but might only be 19 so they get protected as well.
