AI Starting Pitcher Usage
Is there no way to prevent the AI from using a starter in back-to-back games, when the team is set to strict rotation? Inevitably, the gassed pitcher gets knocked out in the first inning and a parade of relievers follow, which then leaves the bullpen tired, The pitcher whose start is taken is always skipped over and ends up missing a turn. This happens at least once a season.
Also, on a less regular basis, the AI will just skip over a rested pitcher when his turn comes up. As I said, the rotation is set to strict order, and the strategy is not mistakenly set to use openers. In addition, I have right-clicked on the starters to set their rotation spot. |
Do you have an example of this from this week?
We have made some updates over the recent weeks to avoid some cases of this, most notably when 7-day lineups are active. But if you are still seeing cases where it seems like guys are going on, please let us know your team+league, and when you saw that happen, and we can dig through the logs to try to trace what may have happened there. |
Meant to take take this down.
Sorry Matt, I meant to take this post down because I realized that, due to being busy with work, and just being a forgetful old fart, I had totally missed installing the last update. :o It doesn't make sense to have you go looking for something that the last patch might have fixed already. Sorry, but I'll do my best to try and get younger. My memory was much better then. I'll keep an eye peeled to see if it comes up. Thanks for the quick response.

Okay, here it is
In bronze 233, Port Ruppert's Brickyard Kennedy started on July 28th and July 29th. Smokey Joe Wood, who should have started on the 29th, was skipped.

Thanks, that was actually really helpful in tracking down what is going on here. We still have some testing we will have to run, but hopefully we can avoid this case in the future.

Same problem in OOTP 21
I'm currently having the same issue in OOTP 21; no repeat starts yet, but the AI keeps skipping over one particular guy in the rotation. I've tried things suggested in the past: (re)setting each rotation position by right clicking on the player then selecting their rotation spot under Staff; changing from Strict to Strict occasionally start highest rested (which seemed counterintuitive, but I did it anyway since others had suggested it as a fix for the problem in the past), but the problem persists.
