Changing bench roles

1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone I have been playing the game for a while but there is still one thing I can't quite grasp.
How do I adjust my bench to get certain players more at bats? I have the AI running the lineups out there and I keep adjusting the pinch hitters order on the lineups page and yet it keeps changing back and I can't get it to stay. There's no "set position" that I can find in game strategy to adjust the pinch hitters and bench players, just starters. So how can I make it so the AI prioritizes certain bench players when it keeps reverting back?
I've attached the screen shot of my roster page and I am looking for any help to get lower ranked pinch hitters on the roster ranked above the ones the AI have placed as the top choices?
thanks!

What's your Manager Options screen look like? Do you have your name selected for "Setting Lineups & Depth Charts"?

I have the same problem as you, but I believe the reason why mine don't stick is because I play in "Act As" mode and I can see that you're not. In your case, if you have the above option set for you, I think your changes should stick.

thank you! I will give that a try!

I could use some more help. I started a new season with a new manager and they don't have "setting lineups and depth charts" as an option for me. It's locked to the manager and it's making moves I don't want. How can I fix this?
I've attached a screen shot.
thanks!

Try changing the role from GM to GM and Manager (in the pull-down in the top right quadrant).

Thanks. I tried that and it worked and i was able to set the lineup and bullpen the way I wanted but i didnt realize i'd actually be managing the team. I dont want to manage hah. I want my hired manager to do it. I just wanted to set the lineup because the AI has it so worse players are playing and better ones are on the bench.
Now it wont let me hire the manager I want back (who was fired when I made myself manager).
How can I hire the manager back and how can I set the lineup the way I want and then let the manager manage?
thanks

In 21 there's a button for legacy mode where GMs control lineups. Surely they didn't get rid of that for 22. Or did they? (I purchased 22 but have only used it for testing. I kept my 50+ year save on 21.)

Also rather than being a manager you can edit a manager (commissioner mode required) to think like you do then use that to set the game management preferences.

I don't know how you get the previous manager back.

Yipes. Somehow I made it worse. I tried to fire myself as manager to make way for someone else and ended up firing myself from both manager AND GM (the job I wanted) and now I don't know how to get the GM job back.
I applied for GM but so far nothing has happened as I play through the year and the AI is getting rid of players I liked and ruining the roster.
I guess I really should just abandon this game and start a new one but I REALLY had the roster the way I wanted it and it's super frustrating.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can get back control of the team?
thanks

You applied but the team hired some else?

In the manager's office it says "Currently you do not manage a team. As the commish, you can take control of any team now from the available jobs screen,"

This implies that if there's an opening and you apply for it you get it. If not its not the first time OOTP information on how things work hasn't been correct.

If there's a GM fire him and try again.

There's a lesson here. Make a backup before trying things assuming they'll work.

Indeed it is a lesson learned the hard way
Thanks for the advice, How can I back it up other than saving when I leave?

Select the backup feature.

Select the backup feature from the menu. I don't remember where it is. Open some menus and you'll find it.

Did you apply for an open job and the team hired someone else? Please let us know because its valuable for others to know the feature doesn't work as described.
