FHM9 Hotfix 9.4.107 Now Available
A new hotfix update for Franchise Hockey Manager 9, version 9.4.107, has just been released to fix some issues with the most recent update.
To apply the update: -If you are playing the FastSpring version, just download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy. However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. -If you are playing the Steam version, the game will auto-update if you have that option active. If you don't see the update in your Steam update queue, you may need to exit and restart your Steam client. -If you bought FHM from the Epic Games Store or the Mac App Store, the game will auto-update as soon as the update is approved by those sites. Download link for PC (FastSpring): Main server: PC Installer Fastspring Download link for Mac (FastSpring): Main Server: Mac Installer Fastspring Your existing savegames will be compatible with the updated game. This hotfix is primarily to correct the problem causing intermittent long delays (5+ minutes on some days) while simulating, but we were also able to address a few other problems that had easy fixes. We've had a number of reports of crashing that we suspect were related to the delay problem and should be fixed now, but if they continue after this update, we'll have to take another look at them next week. Changes: -fixed long delays caused by potential loop in trading/transfer logic, particularly when close to European transfer deadlines -fixed issue with all-star game "vs. World" format that could cause a crash while generating the skills competition email if one team didn't have enough goalies -fixed potential crash with all-star conference vs. conference games with the "one player per team" rule enabled and an odd number of teams in a conference -removed a couple of players in historical mode that were duplicates of existing players; also corrected a problem that was resulting in some players appearing in the database when they should be inactive -should no longer be possible to offer a preseason tryout to players who are still draft-eligible -"Make this work" trade option will no longer request players who are on the team due to a preseason tryout |
107 is not automatically updating on Steam. Doesn't appear available in my part of the World (South America). Any alternatives for adding it to Steam?
|
Hey Jeff,
We're having some guys from other regions, South America, Canada etc saying that their steam client is not pushing them the latest update of the game and as our commissioner has updated (I'm assuming he's US based) it is causing issues with our export schedule. Any advice would be welcomed! |

Then restart Steam. If that doesn't work, restart your computer. |

Steam doesn't have it for some of us |
Uninstalled and reinstalled and it’s still on the previous version.

Everything is set up correctly on Steam from our end; the build history log shows the public (and public beta) branches getting the .107 build yesterday morning and nothing changing since then. Maybe try going into Settings in your steam client (just right click on it, then Settings), opening the "Downloads" section, and switching the download region to a different one. If a local server is being slow to update for some reason, that may help. There's also an option there to force a clear of your download cache, which would get rid of any old installation files that might be stuck there, but that also logs you right out of Steam, so it'd be easier to try switching servers first. |
I've tried both suggestions and it's still on version 9.4 build 104.

I just ran the update on my laptop, which had an earlier version, and it updated properly to 9.4.107 (using "Canada-Vancouver" as the download region.)
If you right-click on FHM9 in Steam and select Properties, then go to the Updates section, there'll be 3 lines at the bottom: App ID, Build ID, and Installed content updated, with numbers or a date after them. What do the last two of those say for you guys? |
My shows app id 1937470 and build id 10940530.

Let's see what the game is reporting internally: on the start screen, go to settings, then troubleshooting, and click on "Enable Debug Trace." Then exit and restart the game, go back to that screen, and click on "Open Trace File." That'll open up a text file, and on the first line it should say (after the timestamp) "Franchise Hockey Manager Version 9.4 Build 107 (Steam), Copyright (C) 2022 Out of the Park Developments". Does it say that, or is it saying 9.3 Build 104 instead? |

Yeah, it looks like the Mac version is the problem, something appears to have gone wrong when it was updated to .107 on Steam. Investigating now, we'll try to have a fix as soon as possible.
|
OK, apparently something went wrong with the Steam build tool and it didn't update the branches properly. Not sure why, this has never happened before in the hundreds of times we've used it.
Regardless, Malte re-did the upload procedure and it seems to have worked properly this time. It may just update you automatically, but if you don't get .107 the next time you restart the game, then right-click on FHM9 in your library, select properties, then go to Local Files and click on "Verify Integrity of Game Files." That'll force the game to check your existing installation, and when it sees the .104 files, update them properly with the newly-fixed version. |
