Will it ever be possible to join a silver tournament without waking up at 4am to click before anyone

else?

Hi, I'm a new player to OOTP and newer to Perfect Team. Forgive me if this is the wrong avenue to express this opinion, but it makes absolutely no sense to me why 'daily' tournaments that people actually want to play are off-limits to everybody except the same sweaty people with nothing else to do at 4am. I've been playing PT for a few weeks now and I can never join the early *4* silver tournament because I don't wake up at 4am with the express purpose of opening up the video game so I can sign up before everyone else does, 24 hours in advance of the actual tournament. I would like to play in these tournaments and I bet a lot of other people do too.

I figure it has something to do with the game economy and com2us extracting as much money from the franchise as possible before running it into the ground (no comment on the stock market simulator attached to a baseball game), and I thought about it from the moneymaking perspective. A thinking executive would realize that the 'whales' who are going to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars on cards probably have to go to work in the morning and aren't going to be able to sign up for the tournaments they actually want to play in and test their roster building skills against other good players (no, 'quick' is obviously not an alternative and you know why). Thus, potential whales are not going to have an opportunity to micromanage their roster and spend $ on upgrades to their silver tournament. Following this logic, they're not going to want to sign up for gold or diamond tournaments and spend serious money without testing in silver or lower. Clearly the franchise nowadays is all about making money through these sorts of microtransactions (it takes far more precedence over balancing the single player game that is very broken months after release) until the relatively small and loyal fanbase deteriorates, but you're not even doing a good job of extracting money from potential whales.

I assume this forum is only read by the employees who actually like baseball and the franchise and aren't shareholders profiting off this incredibly exploitative financial model that should probably be illegal, but maybe my critical language can be distilled into marketing speak to make the executives realize that by making the game more fun, they can also make more money and keep their jobs a little longer.

This belongs in the perfect team forum. No offense intended, just saying that is the place for the right people to see and respond to your question concerning anything PT.

Non-employee here.

Is the entire global player base in your time zone?

OP's time zone is irrelevant. A fair comment was made by him/her. Two starts a day would be nice so that more had a chance to sign up.

Tournament signups

Typically, the dailies are open for signups half an hour to an hour after the previous one starts. But they're dailies, having two a day wouldn't make them dailies now, would it?

Ah, the naivety of newbies

Many of the whales spend more time on their tournament teams than on their main team. Why? Because the upgrades are cheaper in terms of PP's and the return on their PP investment can be very much faster than on their main team.

Seriously, I dunno anyone that pays attention to the main team just to their tournament rosters.

Also the entire world is *not* your timezone, and generally the people in that tournament would just click to join the next one when the current one starts. I do that with the nightlies, since I don't pay attention to the game much in the mornings. As in, once you're in the tournament you might as well as sign up for the next days once today's starts. Especially with 4 tournament slots.

Seriously? All they have to do is change the name of an added tournament. Or add a number like they already do on some.

Some tournaments have early and late variations. It won't work for everyone, but it should help the above. There is already an early and a late daily silver tournament right now, for this reason to hopefully have everyone able to get in to one or the other if at all possible.

Thanks Matt.

It works for me playing the early. I am here in support of the OP since some people only want to give sarcastic responses. While I appreciate your response, I still believe that a mid day or midnight daily would serve people like that.

I’d love to give a sarcastic response…but he doesn’t deserve it. It was a fair question, including an apology for posting in the wrong area. I’m very disappointed OP got the sarcasm from others. Also, living in the global base time zone, I maintain some fairly odd hours due to Mrs. Cobb’s exhaustive schedule. Illegitimati non carborundum, kid!

I barely have a chance to join a Historical Iron.

Tournaments start at 12.30 a.m. local time and from then on signing up for next days tournament is open.
If I get up on a work day at 6 a.m. local time I sometimes have a chance to sign up, if I look later the tournament is full most of the time.

Frustrating indeed.

the Daily Late Silver has spots open right now (49/64), so grab one of those if you're around...

as for the sarcastic responses, when you have this leading your post/complaint:

you deserve a bit of sarcasm in return. Not everyone who signs up for the Early Daily Silver are a bunch of "sweaty people with nothing else to do at 4am". By the time that tourney pops up as open and accepting teams, it's after 8am for me. If I happen to think about it at the time, I'll pop into Go and grab a slot (takes 20 seconds of my time). If not, there are other tourneys to try.

I can't believe how toxic this community is. His post is completely legit and is not offensive to anyone. No, it's not easy to get one of those slots. Most of us work. Most of us don't login to a video game in the morning before work, who has time for that? And weekends? Sleep in, because most of us work hard.

Bronze tourneys pretty much impossible to get a slot. And silver tourneys are hard to sign up for without knowing the times they open. It's why I only pay attention to my team once every couple of weeks now. Why bother fretting over logging in at certain times to a video game?

His post (if you read between the lines) is saying why would the OOTP devs setup a game that rewards people who camp the tourney screens? There's better ways to do this. Have running sign-up sheets.

Oh, and don't get me started about those people with multiple accounts that sign up for the same tourney with several accounts. They won't ever publicly admit they do it, but they do. I started this post saying how toxic this place can be, and I'll end it stressing that very same point.

I recently tossed together a junk Iron team that I'm sure people would love to face in the tourneys.... but, yes, these seems to fill up within hours.

Possibly in another couple of months after I accumulate 20k points or such from my 1/2 reward accomplishments I can check to see if buying all the available bronze cards is viable (suppose I'd also have to make sure the limited editions don't play spoiler).

Yes, I generally agree, although I work late and can sign up for the dailies soon after they open.

A suggestion: not necessarily sign-up sheets, but how about letting people sign up for tomorrow's dailies after today's fire rather than having to wait for them to complete (which takes quite a few hours).
