OOTP 25 looks blurry or incorrectly scaled? See here.

Nowadays, with various different display resolutions and related OS settings, it can happen that OOTP by default runs in a non-native resolution and looks weirdly blurry or scaled wrong. For this, you can try the following:

First attempt, change in game setting:
If you open OOTP 25 and everything is so small you can read it on 4k and 8k (1400 and 2160 resolutions) there is a very simple fix built into OOTP.

Click on SETTINGS either on the OOTP entry screen or in the File menu if you have a game loaded. Click on the Expert tab and down where it says "Use Windows DPI Scaling" turn that to "Always Off". Then close the game and reopen it and your font and scaling will look like it did in OOTP 24.

PC Windows
1. Locate the OOTP 25 shortcut (or the OOTP25.exe)
2. Right-click it, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab and toggle the setting for high DPI scaling.
3. Start the game.

The same may also work if you do it on your Steam client shortcut in case you use the Steam version of OOTP.

There is also a setting for what scaling setup to use. In the Settings button on the main page, in the Expert tab, there is a setting for 'Use Windows DPI Scaling'. The default will attempt to adjust to your monitor settings, but if that does not work, you may want to try either Always On or Always Off. You will need to restart your game after changing that setting to see a difference.

Another possible solution is to set the Windows interface scaling to 100% (or some other setting) prior to starting OOTP:
1. Open Windows Settings
2. Click on System
3. Click on Display
4. Under the "Scale and layout" section, use the drop-down menu and select the scale settings that suit your needs. Options available include 100, 125, 150, and 175 percent.

macOS
1. Go to wherever the app OOTP is located, most likely in the Applications folder.
2. Right-click on the app icon, and select “Get Info” to bring forth the information dialog box for the app.
3. When the Get Info dialog box opens, you should see an option that says “Open in Low Resolution.” What you need to do here is checkmark the box next to the option.
4. Close the Get Info dialog box after you have checked the option.
5. Start the game

This is what worked on my 4k display:

Right-click ootp25.exe --> Properties --> Compatibility --> Change high DPI settings --> (under High DPI scaling override --> Enable Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: and choose System)

The default value for Scaling performed by: is Application, and that did not work for me.

Nice and thank you!

This does not exist anymore even opening the game with the equivalent info.plist settings is awful to read on the mac native resolution. The issue may be the fonts themselves.

Have m3 MacBook Pro 14 inch. When I hit right click on app the app info pops up. There is a small place to check for scaling which I clicked. It seems better, unless it is a placebo effect.

Are you hitting "scale to fit below built-in camera"?

This post has the workaround but the actual instructions above no longer work. The flag being set via the above is actually the default info.plist setting. Setting it to true causes the game to crash outright.

I assume the difference is just how far back you are sitting. But it is also possible there is an issue related to detected screen size that is causing the subpixels to be off. It appears far too off to be that though. It fuzzy on both my studio display and my 2k monitor. I can check on my internal display as well.

Mikey Zach,

Thank you.

Is there a way to get a "Screen Setup" button on the Front Offices > Finances screen?

I enjoyed having the 9x9 grid in OOTP23.

Is there going to be a fix for this? Just curious. I was able to get it to fit the screen but I messed with it for about 20 minutes and the letters and numbers continue to look a little blurry. I have a 4k monitor and they look to be like the resolution for the letters and numbers are 1080.

Silvams Historical Parks Problem

Dunno if right Forum.. Downloaded the Historical Parks.. Never had a problem before in past years.. Example Ebbetts Field the sizing is way off I even went into my OOTP 24 Parks and it still happens.. Dunno.. Puzzled..

Think I solved the issue.. experimented with VIEWS etc.. Turned off Dynamic, turned on hide top widgets on play, and a few camera views.. Seems vey playable now :)

I skipped 24, so it's very frustrating to see that the blurry font issues still haven't been fixed (especially since it's been a problem since at least 21). I've also found issues with UX scaling and the top menu bar being affected when in fullscreen mode on Mac.

The advice stickied at the top also doesn't apply anymore as that option isn't in the 'Get Info' settings.

Are the devs planning to ever get this sorted is it something unfixable with the engine, etc.?

This! How do we get 9 sections to show up in OOTP25 when looking at our organization?

This is not my pic, but here is what I had in OOTP24, 9 sections:

In OOTP25, I cannot find a way to get this to display again. I have tried on a 1920x1080 monitor and on a 2K monitor
