The thread where you celebrate your PT success or complain about your failures...
also known as "How's your team doing?"
I'll start. Made the Iron series after a 98-64 season. Completed all of live 1 and a few live 2's. Got pulls of Roger Clemens, Ron Santo, and FL Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Yamamoto was sold for 175k on Saturday to fund more live mission completions. Currently down 1-0 in the iron level series because Clemens just loves to lay eggs everywhere he pitches. This is a series we *should* be winning, but I'm fairly certain we'll find a way to screw it up. It's that Magus luck that is good in packs, but bad on the field. Take a beer and start spillin' your guts, folks. EDIT: This story was happy end. Won the league. No two month wait for a league title this cycle. |
Eh. In the Entry pool, I did just well enough to make Iron.
In the first season, and with the altered pro/rel numbers, I finished 2 games ahead of the best relegated team (3-way tie, actually, so not sure who'd have been left out if there'd been 6 relegations). So...not too unexpected a start for a F2P, might even consider it a good one? |
:o The RNG's were very unkind today. But, "Wait 'til next year(week)!"
|
Bronze playoffs, having completed only 9 missions. I'm holding back on purchases of live cards until prices stabilize at a reasonable level, helped out by pulling Diamonds 2B Ron Hunt, CF Dode Paskert, SP Virgil Trucks and adding C Salvador Perez and RF Tommy Holmes from the opening-week choice pack. I was leery about adding Holmes, but he rewarded me with .303-28-111 (83 extra-base hits) in his opening season. Core is solid enough, defense is good, pitching is a bit weak.
Onward. |
Woo hoo! My San Diego Sharks went 48 weeks last year before winning their first championship (in Gold). They just won their first of 2024 in Week Two. Thanks Eddie Murray (series MVP) and Dock Ellis (2 wins).
|
Much better this week, I turned the record around by 23 games, won the division, and made it to the championship round before getting cruelly pounded. But lots of Twitch pack drops, lots of PP, and the team that's getting promoted to Bronze level is going to be even better.
|
114-48, Bronze .211 champions in 6 games. Thought the script would have me lose the bronze WS in 6, but instead of following the script we decided to do the good baseball things. Barring anything even crazier in other leagues, my Chase Utley will have the bronze level record for stolen bases with 120.
Corey Kluber went 23-2 with a 3.10 ERA, good enough to win his first best pitcher award. I'm not sure if he'll do anywhere near as well in silver, but I guess we'll see what happens. Notable pulls: 100 Ed McKean (.322, 17 HR, 94 RBI in 422 AB), 100 Guy Hecker (8-2, 4.03 ERA in 16 starts), 90 Tony Watson (3-0, 3.91 ERA, 1 save in 23 appearances), 92 Kris Bryant (not good enough to crack the lineup) ...as for tournaments? Less said, the better. Probably gonna squeeze into PTCS for bronze, but not gonna have a chance of making any kind of run. Also, don't ask me how the quick mines are going, it'll just make me angry all over again. |
Heartbroken to lose in the silver PTCS semifinals in 7 games. These deep runs don't happen to me, so this one especially hurts.
|
A little bit of success and failure built into one...
I've hit on 6 Diamond cards in the last day or two from Iron tourney pack wins and missions. GREAT! 5 have been 94 Live Jose Ramirez. Frustrating. |

From the highest of highs yesterday during my deep silver PTCS run, to the lowest of lows and getting baseball'd by a team that really has no business to be having success against me in my silver WS. Zero explanation for this other than I got baseball'd, and that absolutely sucks because that is such a cop out. Can't accept that.
I guess sweeping the #1 overall seed in the LCS should have been a big warning sign of a massive letdown to come. Pretty angry about this, but whatever. Complaining won't change it. Onward I guess. |
Got knocked out of the playoffs early, but there was no way I was going to win when there was a team with 14 perfect cards on it. Movin' on up to Silver regardless; we'll see if Gold remains a possibility after next week, since there's still a lot of upward mobility until they're done adding Diamonds and opening Perfect.
Edit: nvm, I see we're down to 4/4 pro/rel already. And I'm blessed once again with the Asbury Springboks in my league. Gonna be a looooong week... |
Made a deep run in the Silver playoffs after winning a Bronze championship the previous week, but lost the World Series. Used the 25K bonus for Gold promotion to complete the last of Live Series 1. Added Kluber and Righetti to the rotation. Just pulled my first Perfect of the year, and it's Luis Castillo. He's also going into the rotation. Things are looking good so far despite my thoroughly mediocre luck with card packs so far.
|
I'm doing Ok so far. Three F2P teams, all in Silver presently. The one team that I have been focused on has 3 Perfect cards (2 Live and 1 historical), but doesn't seem to be doing any better than the other two.
I suspect a similar pattern to last year; I will push the teams to get as far up the pyramid as possible, but will eventually fall into Bronze about the time the baseball season ends. |
Well .... Team Chemistry is overrated

I did NOT set out to tank, but ....
I created an all Braves team in an effort to reach max chemistry. Got up to 98.4% What did it get me? How about a 25 game losing streak? My plan is to go ahead and get relegated and try this again next week |
When my first diamond league hit, it was just too good to believe.
40 - 75 :( Dead last. Will see you again, sweet shiny rock. |
