Lack of posts on forum !!!!
Less than 25 posts on forum this month..When PT first started PT18 or 19 first few years there were always lots of talk on the forum you coud get info-tips-some people had nice spreadsheets of how players were doing .Seems kinda dead now .
To me it was really helpful because unless you have a lot of pesos in your pocket its hard to compete Thanks and hope everyone has a good Turkey Day |
Most have utilized Discord. I agree that the forum is more organized, but discord is where many have gone.
|
The popular private discord forums where actual conversations are possible are as dead as this forum.

This isn’t true at all.. I joined the discord in June and came in asking questions. Got tons of great insight and tips. We share data. People literally walked me through a few PD’s and showed me where I was messing up / what could be done better etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Unless we go back in time to 2004, forums are not really that practical anymore when you can get the answers live in discord.
The future is nowwwwwwww Also, I'm in HOTL we are always taking in new members and are always there to help each other win..idk what Erie Seawolves is talking about |
Most of the community has shifted to Discord these days. While forums used to be the go-to spot, real-time chat platforms like Discord have become more popular for quick interactions and sharing tips.

I wouldn't be surprised if a good reason this forum still exists is that they need a legal way to publish odds for the spotlight packs so they don't violate gacha regulations.
|
There's other uses for the Forums...
Maybe Discord has taken over the "game mechanics" and PT parts of the conversation, but the Forums do a better job with General Discussions, Online Leagues, Fictional Simulations, Dynasties, and Mods. It's difficult to imagine Discord would handle those better.

Discord fits right in with the younger generations' incessant babbling via text. The only way it really works is if you're constantly, and I mean constantly, on your phone. If not, you'll have to search for the answer to that question you asked twenty minutes ago...hidden among 20 memes and 15 other topics.
|
I'm sure they said the same thing about television at some point... Times change.
|
The problem remains despite your analogy. Discord is a chat service which is poorly suited to questions or deep discussion of game or card issues. Whatever gets typed flies by with no organization or place holders. It's barely if at all an adequate replacement for forums.

I agree. To imagine a world where everything is handled by Discord is to discard (pun intended) the value of intensive conversation. Asking how to expand a league might be handled fine on a chat service, but discussing the nuances of combinator cards or setting up a promotion/relegation league is better done on a forum where the answers are documented and recorded to be found later. The forums are a living "history" of past discussions while the "chats" on Discord are long forgotten (and many time not findable) on Discord. |

From a Perfect Team standpoint there are only three reasons the forums exist. 1. To post patches 2. To post combinator odds (which is probably a legal obligation) 3. Occasionally post about tournament changes (because that's too much of a word-wall to post on Discord and it needs to be shoved somewhere) Other than that almost all the information/discussion from OOTP regarding perfect team either flows through the Discord of is revealed though their official Twitch streams. You guys can debate the pros and cons all you want but the train left the station a long time ago and you're still standing at the newspaper stand waiting for a shoe shine. |
FAB, you forgot the other main reason that the forums still exist: it is where the developers live, for the most part.

There’s a part of me that misses something about all of those antiquated technologies… but they’ve been left in the dust. It has nothing to do with my age (which is not all that young at all) more that if you’re not moving forward you’re moving backward. |
