Let me put this another way, looking for current mlb format with updated 6 games against interleague rivals...KC vs STL, White Sox vs Cubs, NYY vs NYM, etc...just want some variety for league, now entering 2029 season...thanks!

I think the following are not in the list thread. They are for setup with the current MLB structure, but they do not sound like what you want.

I think you want something like the current MLB breakdown of games, in particular playing all 15 interleague teams, with two series (instead of one) against one particular team. There are a few ways that could work out with somewhere between 12-14 games per division opponent and 6-7 per interdivision opponent. Is that what you want?

One trick in that is lining up those interleague rivals correctly which depends on the teams and setup. What is assumed in the schedule build may not end up matching any given league configuration, requiring back-and-forth to work out.

Keeping the rivals is another issue which I think you hint at with the note about variety. Reloading the same thing every season keeps the rivals aligned but keeps everything else always the same -- you always play everybody at the same times through the season. I have not completely thought this through, but I think there is a way to create variations by rotating teams in a synchronized way in the two subleagues.

The interleague rivals play each other a weekend vague in the middle of each half of the season.

I am certain this will not have the desired rivals aligned. If you tell me what the rivals do appear as in your league and what they should be I ought to be able to make a variation that rewires in that way.

From the comment on the other thread I thought a key thing was getting the 6 games against an interleague rival. Sounds like you just want variations on the current MLB format?

Maybe you can clarify the key aspects you want? Perhaps...
  • Playing each other interleague team
  • 6 games against a rival
  • Maintaining extra games against interleague rival in variations
  • Having (or not) a couple games the mimic Japan/Korea series that make the season start a week earlier

dawg1isclear 05-10-2025 11:59 PM

Sorry about that, here are more specific details...

thirteen games against each of the other four teams in their own division (52 games total), six or seven games against each of the other ten teams in their own league (62 games total), six games against one "geographic rival" from the other league, and three games against each of the other fourteen teams from the other league, for 48 total interleague games. Under this schedule, divisional games consist of two, three or four-game series, intraleague games consist of three or four-game series, and the interleague games consist of two three-game series against the geographic rival (one series home and one away) and a single three-game series against the other interleague opponents (the home team alternating every year).
