The Wide, Wide World of Baseball
This is a save that began the day I bought OOTP 23. I do not control any of the teams, instead acting as the "commissioner" of the larger baseball world as a whole. It features a total of 32 leagues and 10 tournaments in its current form, and continues to grow every day, with 350+ years of history in the books. (If you follow the OOTP reddit you may have seen my post about this save last year.)
That is, until last week. Long story short, I have a very old PC, it decided to do "very old PC" things in the middle of saving that world. Poof! That world is no more. I could have reverted to a backup and lost a bunch of history, or I could buy OOTP 26, recreate it, and document it here. So without further ado, welcome to the Wide World of Baseball... https://i.imgur.com/Ga6HXDr.png https://i.imgur.com/O35hOqR.png https://i.imgur.com/SEx4395.png https://i.imgur.com/umwGWXG.png https://i.imgur.com/Y1KxYkm.png https://i.imgur.com/OJcyTcH.png (Disclaimer: Some of the team logos you will see in this thread were made by me, most were not. That credit goes to knuckler, txranger, 20_range and many other much more talented users on this forum.) I will detail each of these leagues in the posts to follow. |
The Major League
https://i.imgur.com/Ga6HXDr.png
We begin in 2058, 14 years after the creation of this world, where Major League Baseball looks... a little different. Gone are the minors, replaced by a five-tier pro-rel system that resembles European soccer (this could be entirely inaccurate as I do not watch European soccer). The previous iteration of this world had 9 tiers of relegation, that has been reduced this time around for multiple reasons. The Major League features the top-16 teams across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. The top-5 teams make the playoffs, where they compete for the familiar World Series. Seasons are 120 games long, each team plays one another 8 times. There is no Spring Training, and as of now, no minor league affiliates for any teams in the pro-rel system. https://i.imgur.com/RRzrugs.png (2058 Major League Standings) At the end of each Major League season, the bottom-two teams are relegated to the Union League (T-II). Like the ML, the Union League is also 16 teams (as are the Continental and Country Leagues), promoting its top-2 to the Major League. Union League teams play 100 games per season, and the bottom-4 teams are relegated to T-III. https://i.imgur.com/Biq6Dfl.png (2058 Union League Standings) Next up is the Continental League (T-III), the purgatory of our pro-rel system. Teams in the Continental League play 82 games per year, the top-4 and bottom-4 leave the league at seasons' end. https://i.imgur.com/48MRcIk.png (2058 Continental League Standings) I like to call the Country League (T-IV) the place where careers go to die. This is the lowest tier of relegation available for veteran players. Just like T-III, teams play 82 games each and the top-4 are promoted. However in T-IV, the bottom-six teams are relegated. https://i.imgur.com/d6yt8Om.png (2058 Country League Standings) Our last (and least!) tier of relegation is the Grassroots League (T-V). T-V is the largest level of our pro-rel system, featuring 20 teams playing 82 games each. Players over 26 years old are prohibited in the Grassroots League. https://i.imgur.com/bM5rdd3.png (2058 Grassroots League Standings) The most recent World Series champion is the Louisville Sluggers! Congrats, Louisville. https://i.imgur.com/AjzlQ8D.png |
The Major International Leagues

Saudi League
https://i.imgur.com/HZiLjLW.png
The Saudi League is the richest of what I call the "National Leagues", which are smaller international leagues that mostly cover either one country or a very specific region. The Saudi League semi-frequently lures players from other leagues with big contracts, but has failed to land a Major League superstar thus far. https://i.imgur.com/mO0owf7.png (2058 Saudi League standings) The Saudi League's most successful team so far has been the Dubai Dodgers, winners of 8 out of 15 Saudi Series titles so far. The Medina Green Caps are the only team to not yet win a title in the Saudi League. |
The EuroLeague
https://i.imgur.com/lRQS5r6.png
The EuroLeague is Europe's premier baseball league, one of four "Major International Leagues" in this world. 32 teams spanning across the continent compete to play in the Euro Series. Teams are allowed to keep up to 40 players on their roster, but only 25 foreigners. https://i.imgur.com/cI1UFsd.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/u0IJ27p.png (2058 EuroLeague standings) So far, the EuroLeague's most successful teams have been Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, with two Euro Series titles each. Berlin has won each of the last two. |
Pacific SuperLeague
https://i.imgur.com/eE6GP8l.png
The Pacific SuperLeague was created after a merger between the former Pacific League (Oceania) and Asian SuperLeague. It features 32 teams who each play 100 games. The same roster rules apply in the PSL as in the EuroLeague. https://i.imgur.com/RR1UyGB.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/EKcAZz9.png Osaka, Melbourne and Adelaide have been the most successful PSL teams so far, with two titles each. |
Latin League
https://i.imgur.com/Tk2IPo1.png
The Latin League covers Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. 32 teams play 80 games each from December to February and are split into Ligo Centroamericano and Liga Sudamericana. https://i.imgur.com/7DESkXf.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/kKsiAhz.png (2058 Latin League standings) Caracas, Barquisimeto, Porto Velho and La Paz have been the most successful franchises in the first 15 years, with 2 titles each. The most recent Serie Latina was won by Barquisimeto over Santo Domingo in 6 games. |
African League
https://i.imgur.com/0kEXZYL.png
The African League is the last of our four "Major International Leagues." 12 teams play 60 games each, with the top-6 advancing to the playoffs. https://i.imgur.com/vPj96XK.png (2058 African League standings) Cape Town, Nairobi, and Lagos have dominated the AFL, with 5, 4, and 3 Africa Series titles, respectively. |
Nippon League
https://i.imgur.com/S4VvUb4.png
This is the first time I've seen my Nippon League logo blown up this large, and uh, that stance-- I don't think that's gonna work. Those hips do not lie. The Nippon League is Japan's National League. Teams are limited to just 6 foreigners among their 26 players on the active roster, as is the case with most of the National Leagues. The NPL season is 80 games long and includes 8 Japanese teams. https://i.imgur.com/SQdMknI.png (2058 Nippon League standings) The Tokyo Athletics have completely dominated the NPL, winning the last 8 consecutive Nippon Series titles, and 10 in total. Niigata is the only other team with multiple (2). Nagoya, Chiba, and Saitama have also won titles. |
Korea League
https://i.imgur.com/m19X5sF.png
The Korea League is, you guessed it, the National League of Korea. 9 teams from South Korea, and one team from North Korea play 60 games each per season. This is one of the few National Leagues with mandatory military service requirements. https://i.imgur.com/XDTNwcu.png (2058 Korea League standings) Busan leads the way in the KOL, with 4 Korea Series championships so far. No, Pyongyang has not won a championship yet. |
https://i.imgur.com/hxq6LTM.png
The Chinese Pro League was actually the first of the National Leagues I created in this world. It's never made much sense to me that China, a nation of over a billion people, isn't churning out baseball players. Now, they are! The CPL features five Chinese teams and one team from Hong Kong. https://i.imgur.com/TlHMTMY.png (2058 CPL standings) Chongqing (10) and Shanghai (5) are the only teams to win the China Series so far, the Mala defeated the Emperors in 5 games in the most recent series. |
Liga Brasil
https://i.imgur.com/p8IjDyb.png
Liga Brasil is Brazil's National League, featuring 6 exclusively Brazilian teams. This league, along with the Latin League, has caused baseball's popularity to skyrocket in Brazil, creating a world baseball powerhouse nation. The season takes place from November to January. https://i.imgur.com/x9ou1lM.png (2057 Liga Brasil standings) In six seasons of Liga Brasil baseball, Brasilia leads the way with three championships. Fortaleza, Belo Horizante and Salvador each have one. |
Liga DominiCubana
https://i.imgur.com/McjmmeA.png
Liga DominiCubana is a more recent addition, just having wrapped up their third season. As the name may suggest, the DCL is a combined National League for the Dominican Republic and Cuba. There are 12 teams who play 60 games each from April to June. https://i.imgur.com/Tx9dIdp.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/Uo8hQpZ.png (2058 Liga DominiCubana standings) The three champions of the DCL so far have been Las Tunas, San Francisco, and La Romana. |
México League
https://i.imgur.com/fbrK3sV.png
The México League is (waits for audience to answer). Correct! Yes, the National League of Mexico! The league features 6 teams playing 70 games each and will be expanding very soon. https://i.imgur.com/76zW1vA.png (2058 Mexico League standings) Cancun has dominated the Mexico League, with 9 championships in 15 seasons. They won the most recent Serie Mexico in 6 games over Guadalajara. |
Nederlandse Honkbal Liga
https://i.imgur.com/T4i5gIY.png
With by far the best name out of any of these leagues, Nederlandse Honkbal Liga is the Netherlands' National League. Amsterdam has absolutely dominated this league, winning 12 out of 15 championships. Tilburg has triumphed twice, and Den Haag once. https://i.imgur.com/UPsOjyR.png (2058 Nederlandse Honkbal Liga standings) |
Canada League
https://i.imgur.com/vKvx7YP.png
The Canada League is made up of 10 Canadian teams, with more being added soon. The "First Nations" team is based in Winnipeg, home to Canada's largest indigenous population. They have the most championships with 4. Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver have 3 each, Nova Scotia has 2. https://i.imgur.com/2ejuShf.png (2058 Canada League standings) |
Quickstart?
Quickstart? I'd love to get my hands on those logos!

Česká Liga
https://i.imgur.com/WIUhZaQ.png
The Czech Republic's Česká Liga is yet another 6-team National League. Plzne has won 4 titles so far, Brna 3, and Pardubic 2. The only team without a championship so far is Liberce. https://i.imgur.com/wz7mNwg.png |
Quote:
Will definitely make a quickstart once this project is finished. There's still some more I want to add. |
Deutschliga
https://i.imgur.com/GamlDvk.png
Deutschliga is Germany's National League, and began play for about 10 years with two teams having misspelled logos. Yes, I took German class in high school. No, I did not pass. Hamburg has completely gotten this league under its boot, winning the last 7 championships and 8 of the last 9. Köln is the only other team with multiple titles (2). https://i.imgur.com/Lvtcqfx.png (2058 Deutschliga standings) |
