Garashchenko has had a mediocre career losing his one big fight, an eight round decision to then undefeated Grigory Drozd. 2004 was an up year for the Ukrainian, he won three bouts by stoppage in his homeland including a third round TKO over Makhmud Otazhanov for the Ukrainian Cruiserweight Title. He finished the year in November with his fist victory in the US, a six round decision over Ronald Boddie at Madison Square Garden in New York.
