Holly won 9 of his first 16 bouts by stoppage including a nice win over Sammy NeSmith at the Sands. Most of his careeer however was comprised of beating stiffs or being snuffed out by better middleweights. Jerry lost on points to James Shuler, Bernard Mays, Tony Cerda, Tiger Walker and Norberto Cabrera. He was stopped by Caveman Lee, Tony Thornton, Roy Gumbs and Mario Maldonado.
