Thank you for the additions Scot, and by the way - you will not find a pic of Edward Smith anywhere unless Cap magicaly turns one up. That photo of Gunboat what what caused me to put the guy you rated up on the list.
My appologies to you, my eyes must have been crossed on that one
DON GRANT LHW / border-line MW
Hometown - Los Angeles, California, USA
Born - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
18(10)-6-0
Grant rattled off 15 straight wins in 1953/1954. Most of the 15 were local stiffs although 4 of his victories came over very experienced boxers if not well known ones. Those four opponents all had winning records and a combined record of 147-62-21. In 1954, at 15(8)-0-0, Grant faced Esau Ferdinand for the California State Light Heavyweight Title. Ferdinand took the 12 rounder on points and Grant's career never got back on track.
In the years following the Cal. State title loss, Don went 3(1)-5-0 before retiring. During that period, he scored an eighth round KO over Chebo Hernandez and beat Garth Panter on points. Don also suffered fifth and seventh round stoppages to Floyd Patterson and Bobo Olson.
