PEDRO AMADOR LW (1926-1929)

Hometown - Colon, Panama

23(4)-15-5

Amador spent most of his pro career on the U.S. West Coast. His only bout in his homeland of Panama was in 1927 when he decisioned Jose Lombardo in Panama City for the Panamanian Junior Lightweight Title. Back in California, Pedro beat Mexican Joe Guerrero in six, drew with Doc Snell over six rounds and with Billy Townsend over ten. Some of the bigger names that got the better of Amador were King Tut, Kid Berg and Tommy Cello. In February of 1929, Amador dropped a decision to Joe Marcus and a TKO loss to Billy Townsend within the same week that were both trumpeted by the Portland, OR papers as great fights. Over 43 career bouts, Pedro was stopped only by Townsend, Joe Azzarella and early in his career by Bud Oswald when he broke a finger and tore ligaments on his right hand.
