Very early in his caree despite a 1-4-0 record, Mahau fought Lion Ven for the vacant Belgian LHW Title. Ven KO'd Mahau in the 3rd round. After that he actually won 4 straight fights. That was all by March 1965. After that Mahau won only 2 more fights, against Moussa Sanagree and Victor Chapelle. He lost his last 9 fights from April 1967 on, including another KO loss to Lion Ven in Sept. 1969, this time for the Belgium HW Title. He was stopped by Jose Peyre then in his last career fight. Other losses included to Ven a couple other times, Jurgen Blin, Giuseppe Ros, Peter Weiland, Harry Kneipp, Kurt Stroer, Giulio Saraudi, Peyre in December 1967 in an eliminator fight for the Beligium HW Title, Paul Roux, and Jose Manuel Urtain. He managed an 8 round draw with Jan Lubbers. A busy Belgium HW in the 60's who tasted little victory for all his efforts.
