Won WBC Jr Bantamweight title in 1998 with a 12 round decision over Gerry Penalosa. He defended the title 5 times against Joel Luna Zarate, Pone Saegmorakot, a rematch with Penalosa, Kenji Yamaguchi and Julio Cesar Avila. He lost the belt with a 12 round decision loss to Masamori Tokuyama for his first pro defeat. Cho came back for a rematch the following year and was stopped for the only time in his career by Tokuyama.
