SOLDIER DELANEY HW (1911-1915) Overall Rating = 1
Hometown - New York, New York, USA
5(4)-12-0
Delaney was a White Hope era heavyweight, and not a very good one at that. Thirteen of his seventeen pro bouts ended ahead of schedule with Delaney scoring 5 stoppage victories and going down nine times himself. He scored a points decision over Bill Tate and stopped Jack McFarland, Jack Brooks, Dave Katz (who was in his pro debut and weighed 35 pounds less then Delaney) and Fred McKay (who was winning on points when he broke his hand - probably on Delaney's head). Delaney lost to Jim Coffey, Al Reich, McKay, Soldier Kearns, Al Kubiak, Sailor Burke and Jumbo Wells. The Delaney family gave up waiting for the call from Canastoga decades ago.
