LOPE TENORIO WW (1922-1935) Overall Rating = 7

Hometown - Manila, Philippines (initially)

34(8)-43-13

Tenorio's career was one of a globe trotting journeyman. He fought in his hometown of Manila in 1922 and 1923, then after a bout in Singapore he boxed in Australia until 1927. In May of 1927, he traveled to the U.S. west coast where he took three bouts before heading for the east coast where he would remain until 1933. His final two years as a boxer were spent in Havana, Cuba.

He fought quality opponents throughout his career. In his first six bouts, he fought vastly more experienced boxers and performed well beating Macario Flores, drawing with Silvino Jamito and losing to Macario and Irineo Flores. In Australia, he defeated Paul Demsky and Joe Hall twice as well as Bert McCarthy, drew with Irineo Flores and lost to Billy Grime, Havilah Uren and Hall. His best years were 1927 to 1929 in the States where he beat Dick Hoppe, Stanislaus Loayza, Joe Glick, King Tut, Bruce Flowers and Jimmy Goodrich. He also drew with Flowers and lost to Glick, Kid Wagner, Ray Miller and Loayza in this stretch.

His career turned downward shortly after his best win (over Goodrich) as he finished 8-26-7 without another quality win. Tenorio was only stopped 4 times in 91 bouts which is quite good considering the level of competition that he faced.
