Hart fought the first half of his 8 year career as a middleweight compiling a 34-8-3,12KO record. He started out 22-3-1 including a couple losses to Al Marson and wins against Arthur Sadd and Albert Finch. In April 1947 he defeated Albert Finch in a 12 round decision for the British (South East Area) Middleweight Title. Hart later lost a 12 round decision to Dick Turpin in a Final Eliminator for the British MW Title. In earlier fights before that he lost a 6 round decision and drew 6 rounds against Randy Turpin.
In October 1948 Hart lost the South East Area title to Albert Finch in another 12 round decision. Other middleweight fights included wins over Richard Murphy, Doug Miller, three times against Arthur Sadd, and Jimmy Carroll. He lost fights to Laurent Dauthuille, and Don Cockell while fighting a 10 round draw with Robert Villemain.
In the later half of 1949, Hart began making the climb fighting in the Light Heavy ranks.He won a couple fights against an Alf Gallagher and Allan Cooke and then defeated Reg Spring in December 1949 in a 12 round battle for the British (South East Area) Light Heavyweight Title. That was followed by a 10 round loss to Dennis Powell and 10 round wins against Jackie Marr and Jimmy Carroll. In April 1950 he lost by 4th round TKO to Mel Brown when Hart suffered a badly damaged eye. Hart came back two month later and defeated Dennis Powell in 12 rounds in a Final Eliminator round for the British LHW Title. In October that year he then faced Don Cockell for the British LHW Title that was vacated by the retirement of Freddie Mills. Cockell KO'd Hart in the 14th round. In March 1951 he lost by 10 round decision to Garnett Denny.
Hart then did not fight for two years before staging a comeback in March 1953 moving up to heavyweight, and getting KO'd in 5 by Les Johnson. By June of that year Hart finished his career for good after winning a couple fights against Paddy Slavin and REg Andrews and then loosing an 8 round decision to Lloyd Barnett.
