A bit of a bump, but I remembered a wierd play I came across. Runner on third, nobody out, ground ball to the infield, second baseman threw it to the shortstop, who made the relay to first, recording a 4-6-3 double play as if there had been a runner on first (which there was not). Next thing I know, there were two outs, and the original runner was still on third.
