If they signed him after the season was over, they wouldn't have played any games and therefore shouldn't have owed him any money. There's really no way to check whether he actually got paid but just for kicks I tested out signing a player after games ended and I wasn't charged any additional money. This should be able to be fixed but in the meantime you can just write it off as a cosmetic bug (though it does suck to have that team in his history when he never played a game for them).

Well, I'm not even sure it is a bug. Were Yucatan & Pittsburgh in the same league or different leagues. If they were in two different leagues I would think that this entire case would be peferectly fine. If they are in the same league, you are right, he should never have become a free agent oon the 1st date.
