Granted, this is just my opinion, but I think it's somewhat more likely that most people playing a MLB-style league would prefer NYY, as that seems to be the standard used on ESPN, and most other newspapers. There are probably more people out there that either want NYY, or don't care either way, than there are people who hate the Yankees as much as you do.

Oh I agree the thing should be left alone by the powers that be.. (You could not please everyone) but
battist, the answer I was hoping for was "yes you can solve it yourself by editing "NYY to NYA" in XYZ location one time" or "No, the only place to edit it, is in each league with each team, everytime it comes up."
-which ever it is that is true would be great to know.
