In addition to too many transactions, the evaluation AI must be off a little. From the Cleveland transaction page...
Robert Gum was waived to make room for
Mickey Hall (All-Star)...who was traded to MON for an ok MR. Then Cleveland traded
Bill Simonton (OF) to the Expos (again) for another crappy MR. Simonton, coming off a nice .290/21/76 season goes to AAA for 50 games.
In the span of 2-3 weeks, Cleveland lost their entire starting OF, got 2 ok relievers and Montreal got a few All-Stars, one of which went to AAA.
But hey, Atlanta did the same thing, losing near-stud IF
Matt Moses to the waiver wire for no reason.
Poor
Ronny Paulino (not very good) has been claimed off waivers 3 times before the All-Star break. He is one of about 50 players who has been claimed about 3 times off the wire.
Lance Niekro is only one of about 100 that have been claimed twice.
