I've also found the AI manager choosing to use my 3rd middle reliever in a close game even though he is tired and my #1 and #2 middle relievers are well rested. Hopefully that is fixed - one thing I'm going to do is give that 3rd middle reliever a low pitch count, so if he is put in the game, the AI will have to put someone else in soon.

If it helps, I've found that the AI does this once a week, every Monday. It completely rearranges my pitching assignments, depth charts, and lineups.
