In the game folder of the old version /data/config/ theres a file called ootp2006_eSellerate_key. This file needs to be copied into the same folder in the new installed version.
This file btw can be opened by TextEdit. Its content is:

ootpb****
(**** = serial number)
Maybe thats of help for piperclap - try to make an textedit file (without any txt. extension i guess) containing the above mentioned text and your serial number and place it into the config-folder.
