No, what I'm checking are the two free agent views to make sure that I don't lose any players by failing to sign them to new contracts. There is a discrepancy in the views between the team/roster/entire organization/financial view and the team/front office/possible free agent view.
In checking them frequently, including day by day at the end of the season and throughout the post-season, there will still be players that surprisingly pop into the free agency eligible category.
The guess above was that something is changing with service time to suddenly trigger their release. When I looked at one player in question, they had hit 5 years and 1 day just after the World Series.
I may try simming fictional leagues because there appear to be all kinds of problems with the historical sims, data not importing right, wild pitches at triple their database levels, terrible drafting and roster management.
The game is still falling short on the historical experience. Maybe fictional will relax me a little.
