I have logged this as TT # 2139, specifically to address the issue of deleted teams.

Regarding the "extra" teams, I can answer that for you: the 2 extra teams for each league are the All-Star teams for each subleague. The game creates placeholders for those teams, and that's why you're seeing those few extra teams in the database info screen.
