I haven't played around with contract offers too much, but just in case: Maybe superstar players expect a contract that becomes worth more over time? Might be worth a try to assign e.g.
7,370,000
7,620,000
8,120,000
8,370,000
to the 4 contract years and see if that makes any difference...
