I seem to remember a ton of last year's beta testers helping out in this forum until late in the summer when the steam died down, and there are still very helpful people like Curtis coming in here to help where they can. To say that there's no support is a stretch.
You also have to remember that 2006 was rougher than subsequent versions will be. That's the reality of doing a complete re-write. This was just a flat-out bad year to be short staffed in a tech support forum.
I genuinely feel bad when I don't have time to help here, or when I run into issues that I can't help with (see: historicals and 6.5 imports). But at the moment, there's not a whole lot that can be done about it. That's why I'm asking for patience instead of snarky comments from people that I've never seen anything else from. Not going to name names, but they know who they are.
Also keep in mind that I'm a player like you guys. Check out the number of threads I posted in here before I became a mod. I know exactly why it's frustrating, and I wish I could do a better job of alleviating it. But I'm only one part-time helper in a sea of broken imports.

I should have stated that differently. I didn't mean to come across as being down on you, f.montoya, or anybody else who is trying to help out here while not actually being affiliated with SI.
The point I was making is that the tech support for the game should not be comprised of a forum on a message board that is monitored by 3 guys that aren't even paid by the company.
