This is probably not at all what you were hoping to hear, Arlie, but your league/game file was probably already infected with the previous version. The only way to know for sure if the patch is good is to try setting up your league/universe all from the beginning and see if you encounter the same issue.
I know this is a drag. I know how you feel. I trashed many games during beta that I started growing attached to. It sucks but hey, we gotta start somewhere, I guess.
