I'd vote for the 1954 Indians. OK, they died in the World Series, but that was a great, great rotation. That alone will cause trouble for the rest of the "league." And they broke up the biggest dynasty in BB history, beating the 103-51 Yanks by EIGHT games.

The yanks won 9 pennants and 4 world seriers iover the next 10 years so it was more like the eye of a storm. Cleveland had a great paper team but paper teams do not equate to great teams. Just look at last years NYY team. On paper they were great, but in reality Detroit won and proved to be a better team. Losing 4 of their most important games SHOULD have an impact on our evaluation of them.
I do agree that the 61' Yanks, while flashy, were not among the very best teams ever.
