I'm on a Mac, and I've noticed that everything in the game slows down gradually, the longer I play. Eventually, things get very slow, almost unplayable. Luckily, I've found a way to fix this- if I go to 'OOTP Preferences' in the Game menu, and click 'OK' (without changing anything), then I suddenly get back to full-speed. No idea why this helps, but maybe it will help you- hope so!

Note also- the 37 gigs you have on your hard drive is storage space, not memory- memory is space used temporarily by your computer for info that applications are using. OOTP can use a lot of it, so you might want to figure out how much you have. Other applications will also use memory that OOTP might want, so you should get better performance if you don't run anything alongside OOTP.
