Beat Wayne with Wayne giving weight. Murderous puncher. Matched with Rory. Winner to get title shot at Lang. WD for Sully who used rabbit punches. Dropped Rory with a glancing blow. No imagination in ring. Can counter punch well. Title bout vs. Lang. Sully forces the fight. Lang could also fight outside effectively. Found by mgr. Wilson while a stake driver for the circus. 204 lbs, reach 77, chest 42 for title bout with Rory. Boxer/fighter lost close decision to Jones. Plans to fight Rory with loaded gloves are foiled. In 1st Sully's first puch opens a gash over Rory's right eye and drops Rory for 8. Another right drops Rory for 7. Rory's left keeps Sully away. Dropped a 3rd time. Round 2 Shane staggers Sully. Round 3 Rory dropped by right cross. Round 4 Sully is jolted and his nose split, but after staggering Rory Jones slips to ropes, Rory sportingly lets him recover. Next round Sully rocked, but he knocks Rory into ropes. Brutal exchange. Two rounds later Rory's combo 2 to solar plexus and 2 to jaw drops Sully.
In 14th Rory feints and shifts and drops Sully for 9. In final minute of round 15 Sully gashes Rory's cheek but Rory fractures Sully's chin. Rory lands a right cross to finish Sully.

Bangor Lang
HW Champion. Breaks Rory's jaw in a drawn ND bout. Intelligent college grad. Chemistry major. Father oened a drug store. Used ring winnings
to buy a dozen other drug stores. Began boxing in a h.S.gym. Handsome despite many bouts. Doesn't drink or womanize. Great fighter, a master feinter. Would feint with his eyes. Tricky in ring. 4 bouts vs. Nealy Rogan. 2 wins vs. unnamed opponents discussed. WD vs. Atkins. Doesn't always show complete mastery of opponents. Carries them to build up rematches. Had 6 bouts vs. Atkins wins or NDs. Psyches opponents and gets their goat.Jim Murphy Lost title to unheralded Bangor Lang on 3rd round KO. Lang goaded him into losing control by claiming to have seduced his sister. KO'd in 2 in rematch. Loses title on KO in 12 to Sully. Out for half an hour after KO. Docs worked on him for another hour. In 2nd Lang targets Rory's once broken jaw. Shane works body. lang takes a knee and slack hits gong accidently. In 3rd he hits Shane with a right cross to jaw, misses a second and is open to a right followed by a left uppercut that puts him out for 10 minutes.

Torpedo Jones
HW at 17 riding rails and fighting battle royals. Befriended by Rory. Beat Harry Sulley. A slugger. Smart. Described as a combo of Joe Gans, Sam langford, Jack Johnson, and Jack Blackburn. Power and skill. Has all of their good points and none of their deficencies. First exponent of "tailing" in 20 yrs. Keep close to an opponent til they are forced to slash away and to beat them to the punch with a short blow that has added force because the opponent is coming in to it. More effective than counter punching. Comes off the floor fighting after a knockdown. First fighter in 20 years that has everything-Cross-counter,body pivot, foot shift on throwing his right, jolting left jab. Rory's whirlwind attack dropped Jones in first, 2nd they exchange and a solar plexis punch puts Jones down. Both shake each other in third and Rory is cut, while cornered. Next round a double knockdown with Shane beating the count at 9 and Jones out. Jones first loss.
