The game was never in doubt -- La Claire wrapped it up early with 5 runs in the third and 4 in the fourth -- totally destroying the Blue Lake Blue Sox 14-5. Leading the Lynx attack were Rich Hart with 3 hits, 2 homers and 5 RBIs and Dennis Weiss with 3 hits, a home run and 3 RBIs. Vikings Win 11-Inning Thriller
The Bayview Vikings jumped on Rod Kelley for 3 runs in the eleventh to knock off Arlon 8-5. Kelley retired the first two batters, but then surrendered a double, single and 2 walks to force in a run. At that point Jeff Nieman relieved Kelley and Skip Daniels promptly drove in two more insurance runs with a single.
Good relief work by Manny Tettelbach and Fred Snow got the victory. They shut out the Champions over the last three innings. Kelley was nailed with the defeat. He gave up 3 runs in less than two innings. Snow was the winner.
Offensively the Vikings shelled Arlon for 14 hits with 5 players collecting 2 hits each. Arlon was led by Jerry Keller and Kris Gervais, each had 3-for-5. Dwayne Coleman rapped a solo shot for Bayview, while the Champs smacked 3 out of the park. Archie Berry, Smoke Zakharov and Jerry Keller each collected one. It was Keller's second of the season.
The two clubs combined for the most doubles in an IPA game with 7. Bayview had 5 and Arlon hit 2.
