I need to cheat just this one time...
Ty Cobb was drafted with the 10th overall pick in the 1904 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Halfway through the 1910 season he has 1009 hits and a .334/.391/.443 career line.
And he just broke his neck. Career ending injury. I do not accept that! Cobb is going to tough it out and be back on the baseball field the very next day for the Cardinals (even though they released, I'm going to re-sign him). I want to see him try for 4,000 hits damnit, not be done with such a completely random injury. If it was a knee injury, I think I'd accept it. But a broken neck?! No thanks.
