Just erase the injury and pretend it didnt happen. Anyhow, with CEIs I do the sit out a year thing usually, too. I just got tired of the 20-year-old pitching porspect blowing out his arm whereas a "simple" Tommy John surgery would get him in a year plus, maybe not necessarily the same pitcher but most 20 year olds would at least give a chance. Broken neck? I dont know about that one though. Personally i wouldnt want that in a baseball game (not to say it couldnt happen, but that would be like a once in 50 years injury, yeesh, more a football injury). Has any major leaguer ever broken his neck on the field? I think a former major leaguer named Gail Hopkins did something in an OF collision that killed him in minor league ball circa 1970.
I never really liked the release immediately after the CEI. Seems cold. I have always when personally controlling put them on the DL and let them retire at the end of the season.
